• Embedded Art:
Art in the Name of Security

    Exhibition at the
    Akademie der Künste Berlin,
    24 January - 22 March 2009

    Poster design: Omar Vulpinari

    Curators Janneke Schönenbach
    e Olaf Arndt invited international
artists to create work on the
    theme of “security” after 9/11.
    Along with the main exhibition
    there was a parallel poster-based
    initiative with six internationally
    reknown graphic artists
    (Jonathan Barnbrook, Neville
    Brody, Fons Hickmann, Gunter
    Rambow, Yuko Shimizu,
    Omar Vulpinari) that expaned
    the project into the city.

    Vulpinari’s poster was inspired
    by Cerberum, the two headed
dog at the gates of Dante's
    Inferno. The ambiguos guard dog
    reminds of the dual consequences
    of security and surveillance today.

    ------------

    Vulpinari contributed his
    “Cerberum” as “brand symbol”
to the robot art project of
    Schönenbach, Vaupel e Arndt.
